The Mythology of Childhood

A story about finding happiness when you’ve almost given up.

My inspiration for this cover illustration comes from the wonderful descriptions in the story: of antiques and textiles and the beauty that can be found in the small details and everyday objects that surround us. The colour and textures of this painting are an attempt to reflect that as well: an homage to vivid Moorcroft pottery glazes, stained glass windows, and that magical time on a late summer evening when glorious sunset turns to starry night, and childhood campfire tales feel a little more real…

The Last Fairy Queen

This is a cover for a story about finding a beautiful place that seems like it was just waiting for your arrival.
Or is it a story about rediscovering your place in a world once thought lost?

If you were to pick this book up in the library of your childhood, the edges of the cover would be worn, the pages dog-eared, the spine creased. The inside cover is stamped over and over, and each application of ink is a link to those who found and loved the book before you.

This particular story is for all of us who never outgrew fairytales….
Who still hope to encounter mythical creatures in the woods…
Who wonder if there is something otherworldly just around the corner from everyday life…
Who know that “happily ever after” is what you make of it, and that magic is real if you know where to look…
